Mineral Point High School

Tom was a four-year varsity player, which was a rare feat at the time. He was named special mention all-conference in the Southwest Athletic League during the 1961-62 season and earned second team honors in 1962-63. At that time, there were only five players named to the first team and twelve teams in the league. Tom averaged 15.5 points per game as a senior and was also named to the Capital Times' honorable mention all-area team.
