Quarterback / Safety: 1992-1994

Andy Palzkill won three letters in football. He started at quarterback as a sophomore, stepping into the big shoes left by Mike James, and proceeded to have a record-breaking career at that position. In his three years, Andy shattered every record that Mike had just set. He was named to the SWAL II All Conference First Team all three years as a Quarterback. As a sophomore, he set the conference passing record of 480 yards in one game in a game at Southwestern High School, earning him a spot in Sports Illustrated’s Prep Athletes to Watch feature. He led the state in passing as a sophomore, was second as a junior, and third as a senior, making him the 3rd leading passer in Wisconsin state history yardage, completions, and touchdowns. Andy was named to the Wisconsin State Journal All Area team all three years of his career and the Dubuque Telegraph Herald All Area team as a senior.

After graduation, Andy played collegiate football for UW-Stevens Point. As a Safety, Andy earned First Team All Conference honors in the WIAC as a Senior. He was honored by the Football Gazette as a First Team All-American and by Hewlitt Packard as a Second Team All-American in Division III football. Additionally, Andy was named to the GTE Second Team Academic All-American Team for his 3.92 GPA. Andy holds the UW Stevens-Point records for the most interceptions in a season (9) and for the longest interception return (a 97-yard touchdown).

Andy Palzkill was inducted into the UW-Stevens Point Hall of Fame in 2011.
