It was a sunny Saturday in Madison, and another championship-level day of performance for the Mineral Point Wrestling Team, who took home their thirteenth team state championship-- their seventh in the dual format.
The Pointers started the morning with a dual against Stratford (19-2, 6-0 Marawood Conference). At the Wega Duals, hosted by Weyauwega-Fremont in December, the Pointers defeated the Tigers 40-25. In the rematch, the Pointers saw the same level of success that they found in December, picking up a 39-23 win. The Pointers opened things up with strong performances from
Sawyer Dannenberg and
Kade Rule. However, after dropping a decision and a fall, the Pointers found themselves leading by just one. That lead would quickly grow thanks to two-consecutive wins by decision (including a massive comeback win by
Memphis Burkhalter) and a pin by
Lennon Ewert. Heading into the end of the dual, Mineral Point closed the door on Stratford with a win by decision for
Sammy Springer, a win by fall for
Roen Carey, and a win by technical fall by
Jacob Dannenberg. The win also earned Curtis Fiedler, Mineral Point High School Alumni and Boys Wrestling Head Coach, his 100th career dual meet victory as a head coach (his 57th as the head coach of the Pointers).

In the afternoon session, it was a rematch of the Wega Duals Championship between Mineral Point and the top seed Weyauwega-Fremont (26-1, 9-0 Central Wisconsin Conference). The championship dual went back and forth, with the Pointers and Warhawks winning every other match. Mineral Point, however, would pick up more bonus points along the way, with falls recorded by
Memphis Burkhalter over Jaydon LeNoble and
Roen Carey over Aiden Marquette, technical falls recorded by
Kade Rule over Carter McDaniel and
Liam Carey over Rylan Konen, and a major decision recorded by
Sawyer Dannenberg over Conner Johnson. Ultimately, Mineral Point was able to take their ten-point lead into the final match, which they would forfeit, and come away as Team State Champions in Division 3 in 2025.

Mineral Point wins their thirteenth team state championship in wrestling program history. The Pointers have previously won championships in 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1985, 1986, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2021. From 1940 (when the WIAA first awarded team championships in wrestling) to 1979, the WIAA followed an open class division, awarding the team championship to the highest-scoring team at the individual state competition regardless of school enrollment. Beginning in 1980, the WIAA introduced the class system, where schools were split into either Class A, Class B, or Class C based on size. Mineral Point won the Class C State Championship six times. In 1991, the WIAA moved from the "Class" system to the "Division" system. One year later, in 1992, the WIAA began determining team champions in wrestling by dual competition. In the dual competition series, Mineral Point has won seven state championships.
Besides holding the record for the most individual state champions in WIAA Wrestling History of any school regardless of division, the Pointers continue to set records in the team aspect. 55 different programs have won State Championships in Team Wrestling. Mineral Point is third on this leaderboard with 13, only behind Luxemburg-Casco with 14 Championships and Wisconsin Rapids with 21 Championships. Both of these schools are Division 1, meaning that Mineral Point holds the most Team State Wrestling Championships of any Division 3 school, and more than any Division 2 school. Elsewhere in the state record book, Mineral Point sits at both third and fourth on the state leaderboard for most consecutive team championships won, with four championships won in succession from 1980-1983 and three in a row from 2007-2009.
