In Tuesday night's matchup, fans were treated to an intense, hard-fought contest as the Cubans and the Pointers battled down to the final seconds. Cuba City controlled the momentum early, using strong defense to hold the Pointers at bay throughout the first half. Despite the Pointers knocking down some tough shots, Ava Ingwell helped keep her team within reach early, while the Cubans consistently answered and carried a 29–20 lead into halftime in what was a physical, defensive opening half.
The second half began much the same, with Cuba City continuing to dictate the pace. The Cubans put together a couple of key runs, extending their lead to as much as 15 points. Ingwell, who finished with a game-high 19 points, continued to attack the basket to keep the Pointers competitive, but they were still searching for a spark.
That spark came from Sadie Miller. With 8:22 remaining in regulation, Miller knocked down a clutch three-pointer to swing the momentum. Despite a quiet start, Miller finished with 11 points. The Pointers followed with another three from Miller and a deep shot from Jadyn Shultz, cutting into the deficit. Sophie Miller, who totaled 12 points on the night, added timely baskets as the comeback began to take shape. Cuba City responded and briefly rebuilt a 58–48 lead.
With 1:08 left, the Cubans led 62–57, but the Pointers refused to fold. Ingwell went coast-to-coast for a layup and earned a trip to the free-throw line. Although she couldn't convert the three-point play, Sophie Miller came up with a key offensive rebound and kicked it back out to knock down a game-tying three with under 50 seconds remaining.
On the ensuing possession, Sadie Miller intercepted the inbound pass, giving the Pointers a chance to take the lead. After a timeout with 30 seconds left, Maddy Kabat—who finished with 10 points—drove strong to the basket, drew the foul, and calmly sank both free throws.
Cuba City had one final chance with 10 seconds remaining but was unable to get a shot off before time expired. As the clock hit zero, the Pointers completed a thrilling comeback victory, powered by balanced scoring and late-game execution.
