This Saturday, the Mineral Point Varsity Volleyball Team completed a clean sweep of the Brodhead Invitational. They went 6-0 on the weekend, winning all 12 sets of action they played.
In pool play, the Pointers defeated Juda, Beloit Turner, Evansville, and Monticello, all in 2-0 finals. In the Gold Bracket Semifinals, the Pointers defeated Beloit Turner 2-0, and in the Gold Bracket Final, the Pointers defeated host Brodhead 2-0. When asked about the weekend, here is what Head Volleyball Coach Kari Kabat had to say:
"We started the day a little slow by our standards, but the girls turned it up and got progressively better as the day went on. They played loose and with confidence during the final match of the tournament and it was a huge confidence boost for us.
Izzy Dannenberg picked up her play tremendously and had a solid day.
Eliza Ingwell connected much better with our hitters and really gave us good opportunities on offense.
Ava Ingwell,
Ella Kroll,
Bree Swenson, and
Maddy Kabat passed serve receive really well all day and played amazing defense for us. We played really scrappy and picked up everything on defense.
Maddy Kabat was on fire with her hitting and
Laci Lindsey and
Brynn Swenson also put a ton of balls down for us.
Raegan Galle and
Macy Kinch also had a solid day from the right side and
Kinlee Prust played well in the middle as well. Our intensity and overall energy was the best we have seen so far this year. Overall it was just a great performance for our kids and a great team day."
The Pointer Volleyball team gets back into SWAL play this week with matches in Southwestern and at home against Boscobel.
